Christ the Redeemer is located in the city of Rio, one of the largest city in Brazil, not too far (relatively, given the size of the country) of Sao Paulo. It is on the east coast of Brazil, in the southern hemisphere, facing the Atlantic. This city is very extensive, it is on a territory that was once wild, mountainous, very vegetated. It is only the rampant urbanization of recent decades that has overcome the vegetation, largely dominated by concrete. However, there are large wilderness areas in the heart of Rio, and the Tijuca Park in which the statue of Christ the Redeemer is located is the largest urban park in the world. This statue is therefore in the heart of the vegetation itself in the heart of the city of Rio.
This park is all in length, it runs along the Atlantic coast. It is basically formed of relief including the Corcovado, which means "Bossu" in Portuguese. The Corcovado is the steep mountain at the top of which Christ the Redeemer was implanted. Its GPS coordinates are exactly 22 ° 57 '8.42 " South and 43 ° 12' 41.21" West.
